Well, I am wondering if they need one stating that anybody with a 50,000 volt Taser gun should not use it at a petrol station... Apparently they do - see this story. Including the line "The incident happened at a petrol station".

Petrol fumes, loads of sparks, 50,000 volts. Oh dear....

After a couple of calls to Vodafone and a long walk to the Vodafone shop to get a new SIM card, it turned out that it was a Scotland-wide problem, and that it might be like that for 24 hours!

I sent an email to The Register website to tell them about it, and about 90 minutes later the following news story appeared here.

Well, if that doesn't speed up a fix, I don't know what will!

I got a cheque yesterday from a a part of the Royal Bank of Scotland group plc. I went to pay it into my Royal Bank of Scotland account today and was told that it would take 5 working days to clear (not including the day of deposit).

Does a week sound a little excessive to move money from one RBoS account to another? It does to me. Or are they worried that some parts of their company might not be financially secure enough to honour a cheque for £60?

Do you remember the days when a first-class letter arrived the next day? I never used Recorded delivery then as there never really seemed to be a need for it. Stuff just arrived.

I have recently posted two items using recorded delivery to ensure that it arrived; the first one took 30 (yes, thirty) days to arrive, and the second one's status is 'unknown' after 6 days. 6 days!!! If it doesn't turn up after 15 working days, then if the status remains as is, then it is 'lost'.

I didn't pay for guaranteed next day delivery as I didn't need it, but I was hoping that it might arrive at all. (The last two items that I sent 'guaranteed delivery by midday' arrived after the 'guaranteed' delivery time anyway).

So, the regulator says that 2p (or whatever) on the cost of a stamp wouldn't give value to the customer. Well, I would happily pay an extra 2p if letters actually arrived. After all, I no longer expect Royal Mail to reach their one day delivery target, but too many items are being lost/severely delayed to leave any confidence at all.

Anyone else wish their mail was delivered? Do I really have to use a courier company to ensure that letters aren't lost?

</Rant>
